Head of Hamas’s foreign political bureau Khaled Mishaal has said that the founding of Hamas constituted an important shift in the history of the Palestinian resistance and that its armed wing al-Qassam Brigades has now become an army for all Palestine.
“We are standing here today to show loyalty to the Hamas Movement’s founders and pioneers and to confirm that we still follow in their footsteps and remember their merits. We pay tribute to the souls of our leaders who passed away and those who are still among us” Mishaal said during a festival held on Sunday in the Lebanese city of Sidon to mark Hamas’s 35th founding anniversary.
The Hamas leader stressed that his Movement would remain adherent to the national constants rights principles and values despite the challenges.
He applauded the role of Palestinians in Lebanon in resisting the Israeli occupation affirming that they would remain part of the Palestinian struggle for liberation.
“The hearts of our Palestinian people in Lebanon who were forced to seek refuge are still with Palestine and they look forward to the day when they return to it” he added.
