Member of Hamas’s political bureau Mousa Abu Marzouk has said the Palestinian cause restored its prestige and became able again to confront the western project in Palestine after his Movement emerged during the first intifada (uprising).
In a statement on Friday Abu Marzouk affirmed that Hamas appeared during a critical stage of the Palestinian cause when the national action was exhausted by multiple blows from the Israeli occupation.
The Hamas official said that his Movement filled the void in the Palestinian arena after the absence of national symbols at the beginning of the first intifada stressing that its inception at the time was necessary for the liberation project.
He also highlighted his Movement’s relationship with other countries saying such relations are governed by “the position of each country towards the Zionist project in the region.”
