The PA security forces have carried out a large-scale arrest and summons campaign overnight and on Tuesday morning targeting activists affiliated with the Hamas Movement.
Three students at Birzeit University were detained after being summoned for investigation this morning while several political arrests were reported in Beit Kahil town west of al-Khalil.
Earlier Monday the Committee of Political Prisoners’ Families in the West Bank reported 142 PA violations over the past 48 hours.
The reported violations included 27 political arrests 78 summonses 13 detention extensions 18 home raids and 6 assaults on women.
At least nine students were detained while 15 others were summoned for investigation during the campaign.
Birzeit University student council staged a sit-in demanding the detainees’ immediate release.
The political arrests also targeted ex-prisoners in al-Khalil Ramallah Qalqilya and Nablus.
The PA crackdown campaign came ahead of the Hamas Movement’s commemoration of its 35th founding anniversary.
