Hamas Movement welcomed in a statement issued Tuesday the UN General Assembly’s resolutions in favor of the Palestinian people and refugees by extending the mandate of the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees.
Hamas considered such resolutions a victory for the just Palestinian cause in the face of the Israeli occupation’s schemes and false narrative.
“We highly appreciate the countries that voted in favor of the resolutions thus reflecting the international solidarity with the Palestinian people and their rights” the statement reads.
The Movement also called on the United Nations and the international community to increase their support to the Palestinians’ freedom struggle until liberation and return.
Earlier Tuesday UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini declared that the UN General Assembly decided to extend UNRWA mandate for 3 years.
Lazzarini considered the decision as “a commitment from the world towards safeguarding Palestine refugees rights until a just and lasting solution to their plight.”
“Until then we will continue to help them thrive across the region” he added.
