Cancer-stricken Palestinian prisoner Nasser Abu Hamid’s family has called on the International Committee of the Red Cross to act urgently to transfer Abu Hamid from the Israeli Ramleh prison to a civil hospital.
In a press statement on Tuesday the Palestinian Prisoners Society (PPS) said that the last visit of Abu Hamid’s family lasted only for ten minutes. During the visit Abu Hamid was kept under artificial respiration and was quickly removed from the visiting room due to the deterioration of his health condition.
The PPS said that Abu Hamid has lost 90 percent of his ability to move. It added that his family’s next visit is scheduled on the 15th of December.
50-year-old Nasser Abu Hamid from the Al-Amari camp refugee camp who has been detained since 2002 is serving seven life imprisonment sentences and 50 years.
Since August 2021 the prisoner’s health has been severely deteriorating. He was later diagnosed with cancerous tumor in his lungs.
