PA minister survives assassination attempt

Thursday 14-December-2006

RAMALLAH (PIC)– A group of armed men attacked and shot at the car of PA minister of prisoners’ affairs Wasfi Kabaha after midnight Wednesday south of Ramallah but the minister was not in the car.

Kabaha in a press release said that gunmen chased his car and then shot at it without wounding anyone before speeding away.

The minister said that the attack threatened the life of his two bodyguards who were in the car and who were returning to their homes.

“Such a chaotic condition only served the occupation’s policy” he said describing those perpetrating such crimes as a “fifth column and tools in the hands of occupation” that aim at destabilizing the Palestinian citizens’ security and dragging the people to infighting.

Kabaha asked the PA security apparatuses to assume their role in checking the security mess affirming that the root solution to such a mess was the formation of a national unity government that would fight any alien phenomenon to the Palestinian people.

Minister Kabaha’s car was burnt in an earlier attack on 28th May this year.
