The International Foundation for Solidarity with Prisoners “Tadamun” called on all international and human rights groups led by the International Red Cross and the United Nations bodies to support the Palestinian prisoners.
In a statement issued Tuesday marking the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People Tadamun said that the Israeli occupation is practicing serious human rights violations against the Palestinian people and the prisoners in particular.
4650 Palestinian prisoners are currently held in 23 prisons and detention and investigation centers amid very difficult detention conditions the rights group added.
Tadamun also called for taking advantage of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People to shed light on the prisoners’ plight mainly the 43 female prisoners.
The rights organization also pointed out that 160 children under the age of 18 are imprisoned in Israeli jails in addition to six Palestinian MPs and 600 sick prisoners.
