A Jewish settler was shot and moderately hurt in a suspected shooting attack in the settlement of Carmel illegally built south of al-Khalil on Thursday night.
Israeli army sources said that medics treated an 18-year-old settler who was moderately hurt by gunfire and took him to Beersheba’s Soroka hospital.
The suspect managed to flee the scene the sources added.
Hebrew media sources claimed that two gunmen managed to enter the settlement before the attack.
Following the incident the Israel forces dispatched dozens of troops to the scene and launched a manhunt for the possible suspects.
The settlers were also ordered to remain indoors and lock doors and windows.
Early Wednesday morning an Israeli army officer was killed in armed clashes with two Palestinians near a West Bank checkpoint. The pair were also killed in the clash.
