GAZA (PIC)– IOF troops stationed in the vicinity of the Mintar (Karni) crossing east of Gaza city fired at a Palestinian citizen and killed him on the spot claiming he was armed and approaching the separation fence between the Gaza Strip and the green line.
Medical sources in Shifa hospital said that the 21-year-old Alaa Mikkawi was hit with bullets in the head and killed instantly. They said that his body was found near the Nahal Oz crossing east of Gaza.
Mikkawi is the first Palestinian martyr to be killed in the Strip since the calm went into effect between Palestinian resistance factions and IOF troops more than two weeks ago.
Meanwhile IOF gunboats opened heavy machinegun fire and Lau missiles at Palestinian fishermen off the Rafah coast south of the Strip wounding a number of them.
