Hadmi warns of Israeli intents to change status quo at Aqsa Mosque

Monday 29-August-2022

The Jerusalem Authority Against Judaization has condemned the Israeli occupation police for allowing groups of settlers to leave and enter the Aqsa Mosque through al-Asbat Gate on Sunday morning describing what happened as “very dangerous” and “provocative.”

In press remarks to the Palestinian Information Center (PIC) head of the authority Nasser al-Hadmi stressed that this “unprecedented” settler break-in at the Aqsa Mosque could have serious repercussions warning of Israeli intents to change the status quo at the Aqsa Mosque.

“What happened was that settlers left the Mosque through al-Asbat Gate and then entered the holy site through the same gate and such practice reflects malicious intents” Hadmi said.

“The occupation state may seek to legitimize settlers’ break-ins at the Aqsa Mosque through the other gates and make their entry and exit an uncontrolled process” he added.

He also warned of Israeli attempts to make “the presence of settlers in the Aqsa Mosque’s courtyards a natural scene just like the presence of Muslims.”

The Aqsa Mosque is exposed to daily desecration by Jewish settlers and police forces in the morning and the afternoon except on Fridays and Saturdays.

The Israeli police allow Jewish settlers to enter the Mosque only through al-Maghariba Gate and then close it at 10:30 am after the settlers complete their morning tours at the Islamic holy site. Later in the afternoon the same gate is reopened for evening tours by settlers.
