Head of Hamas’s political bureau Ismail Haneyya on Saturday extended his sincere condolences over the passing of the former head of the Jamaat-e-Islami Hind while he was receiving treatment in Delhi.
“Haneyya phoned the Emir of the Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Syed Sadatullah Husaini and offered condolences to him and to the entire Islamic community in India over the death of the former head of the Jamaat Syed Jalaluddin Umri” the Movement said in a press statement.
Haneyya invoked the history of the deceased and his positions as Sheikh Umri was always a supporter of justice and played a major role in charitable and humanitarian works in India and abroad.
He pointed out that Sheikh Umri was a staunch supporter of the Palestinian cause and always defended the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Islamic holy sites.
