The Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC) on Saturday warned that the continued Israeli crimes committed against the Al-Aqsa Mosque would lead to an “explosion”.
“The constant aggression practiced by Israeli soldiers and Jewish settlers against the Al-Aqsa Mosque constitutes an extension of the crime of setting fire to the holy site 53 years ago” the Council said in a press statement on the 53rd anniversary of the arson attack on Al-Aqsa Mosque.
The Council affirmed that the Israeli crimes committed against the Al-Aqsa Mosque including the excavations in the holy site and the daily raids into it in addition to the displacement of Jerusalemites and demolishing their houses violate international and humanitarian laws and conventions.
It added that these violations constitute failed attempts that aim at eliminating the Arab and Islamic identity of the Al-Aqsa Mosque by obliterating its Islamic and historical landmarks in addition to imposing spatial and temporal division on the holy site.
“The Al-Aqsa Mosque is a place of worship for Muslims only and does not accept division” the PLC confirmed calling on the League of Arab States and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to assume their responsibility and protect the holy site from the Israeli crimes.
