IOA extends Hamas leader Al-Qawasmi’s detention order

Saturday 25-June-2022

The Israeli occupation authority (IOA) has extended the detention order of the Palestinian prisoner Nedal al-Qawasmi for six months.

Prisoner al-Qawasmi’s 6-month extension came a few days before he was supposed to complete his 14-month administrative detention sentence.

Al-Qawasmi was arrested on the 21st of April 2021 after the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) stormed his house in the Namra neighborhood in the center on the West Bank city of al-Khalil.

His detention came as part of a large-scale arrest campaign launched by the IOF against Hamas leaders and activists.

55-year-old al-Qawasmi who is one of Marj Al-Zuhour deportees spent about 11 years in Israeli prisons. He had been also held in the Palestinian Authority prisons more than 8 times.

About 500 Palestinian administrative detainees continue to boycott the Israeli courts for the 176th day in a row to demand an end to their administrative detention orders.
