The Israeli occupation authority (IOA) has recently approved a new settlement plan to be built at the expense of Palestinian lands in Salfit and Qalqilya in the northern West Bank.
According to the Applied Research Institute “ARIJ” the plan includes the establishment of a new industrial settlement.
The settlement plan will lead to the confiscation of 320 dunums of Palestinian lands 174 dunums in Qalqilia and156 dunums in Salfit.
The international community has repeatedly reaffirmed the illegality of Israel’s settlement construction in the West Bank.
UNSC Resolution 2334 of 2016 reiterated that Israel’s establishment of settlements in the occupied Palestinian territory (oPt) “constitutes a flagrant violation under international law” and demanded that Israel “immediately and completely cease all settlement activities in the occupied Palestinian territory including East Jerusalem and that it fully respect all of its legal obligations in this regard.”
