Thursday 23-June-2022

A high-level delegation from the Hamas Movement led by head of its political bureau Ismail Haneyya met on Thursday with Hezbollah secretary-general Hasan Nasrallah in the Lebanese capital Beirut.

In press remarks Hamas spokesman in Lebanon Walid al-Kilani said that the meeting with Nasrallah was aimed at promoting the relations between Hamas and Hezbollah and strengthening the resistance axis in the region.

Kilani also said that the two sides discussed avenues of cooperation and coordination to confront the Israeli occupation and its aggression.

He told the Palestinian Information Center (PIC) that the Hamas leadership expressed its solidarity with Lebanon in its efforts to extract gas from its territorial waters and put an end to Israel’s attempts to steal its resources.

The delegation also underlined the need to support the Palestinian refugees’ steadfastness in Lebanon’s camps and reject any proposal calling for resettling them in other countries.

Haneyya arrived in Beirut on Tuesday afternoon leading a delegation from the Movement. In addition to its scheduled meetings with Lebanese officials the delegation will meet with Palestinian citizens and leaders of factions living in the country.

The delegation intends to discuss with the Lebanese officials several issues of mutual interests including the latest developments in the Palestinian arena and the living and social conditions of the Palestinian refugees in the country.
