Hamas Movement welcomed the statements of the United Nations Spokesman Stéphane Dujarric in which he touched on the Gaza Strip’s difficult human suffering due to the imposed siege for 15 years and his demand to lift it completely.
In a statement issued Wednesday spokesman for Hamas Movement Fawzi Barhoum said that the UN official’s remarks “reveal once again the extent of the suffering of more than two million Palestinians as a result of this unjust siege that clearly violates international law and human rights.”
The Hamas spokesperson also called on the United Nations and all human rights and international institutions “to take all these statements and reports seriously work to intensify efforts to end the suffering of our Palestinian people pressure the Zionist occupation to lift its siege imposed on the Gaza Strip and end the policy of apartheid practiced by the Zionist occupation against our Palestinian people.”
Earlier Tuesday the United Nations called for full lifting of the Israeli blockade on the Gaza Strip marking 15 years since the start of the blockade of the Gaza Strip.
Dujarric stressed that “due to the blockade poverty high unemployment rates and other factors — nearly 80 per cent of Gazans now rely on humanitarian assistance.”
