The students of Al-Najah University in Nablus continue to strike for the second day in row Monday in response to the call of the “independent student bloc”.
The bloc had announced specific demands following attacks on students at the university over the past week mainly to dismiss all university security men who assaulted students and to reset the powers of university security through a clear code of conduct.
Suhaib Hamad a spokesman for the bloc said that “the continuation or suspension of the strike hinges on the decisions of the Commission of Inquiry set up by the University.”
The university’s Board of Trustees had decided to set up an immediate fact-finding committee in the “deplorable” events that took place on the old campus on 14 June where dozens of students were attacked by the university’s security and some were injured.
