Member of Hamas’s political bureau Ezzat al-Resheq has condemned the persistent desecration of the Aqsa Mosque by Israeli police and Jewish settlers as “acts of piracy that will not succeed in Judaizing it.”
In a press release on Sunday Resheq warned that the settler groups’ persistence in defiling the Aqsa Mosque’s courtyards is aimed at paving the way for dividing the Islamic holy site temporally and spatially expressing his belief that such attempts would be doomed to failure.
He stressed that the Aqsa Mosque would remain a purely Islamic holy site forever.
At least 528 Jewish settlers desecrated the Aqsa Mosque’s courtyards on Sunday under police guard to mark the Shavuot festival according to the Islamic Awqaf Administration in Occupied Jerusalem.
Earlier in the morning a large number of Israeli police forces stormed the Aqsa Mosque and closed its Qibli prayer building with chains.
