Violent clashes with IOF in W. Bank and J’lem

Sunday 5-June-2022

Violent clashes broke out at dawn Sunday between Palestinian youths and the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) in Jenin and the east Jerusalem refugee camp of Shuafat.

According to local sources the IOF stormed different areas of Jenin province including the city and its refugee camp and clashed with local youths.

Clashes also took place near the Jalamah checkpoint in the northeast of Jenin. Last night the same checkpoint was attacked with a homemade explosive device.

The IOF also stormed the villages of Tayba Anin and Zububa and intensified its presence in areas near the towns of Silat al-Harithiya and Yamun in western Jenin.

In al-Khalil the IOF kidnaped a Palestinian citizen identified as Diya Abu Eisha during his presence in the southern area of the Old City.

The IOF also raided several homes in Salaymeh neighborhood in al-Khalil City with no reported arrests.

In east Jerusalem police forces stormed Shuafat refugee camp and attacked local residents with tear gas.

On Saturday the IOF quelled Palestinian citizens and peace activists participating in a rally held to protest an Israeli demolition campaign and settlement expansion in Masafer Yatta south of al-Khalil.

Local sources said that dozens of citizens and activists were assaulted by Israeli soldiers and suffered from their exposure to tear gas in Masafer Yatta.

Recently an Israeli court gave the Israeli occupation army the green light to forcibly expel Palestinian Bedouin communities in Masafer Yatta an area in the southern occupied West Bank and to use their lands as firing ranges and training zones.
