Violent clashes broke out on Sunday between Palestinian young men and the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) in different areas of the West Bank after police forces stormed in the morning the Aqsa Mosque to secure settler tours.
According to local sources young men clashed with the IOF on the Halhul Bridge and al-Arroub refugee camp in al-Khalil Huwara town in southern Nablus and near al-Quds University in Abu Dis and Kadoorie University in Tulkarem.
Similar clashes took place near the Nitzanei Oz checkpoint in western Tulkarem while a Palestinian child was injured in his eye by a rubber bullet during skirmishes with the IOF in al-Arroub refugee camp in al-Khalil.
Local youths from al-Khalil also clashed with the IOF in Bab al-Zawiya and ash-Shuhada street and managed to place a Palestinian flag at a military checkpoint in the city.
In east Jerusalem young men put a Palestinian flag on the road leading to Ma’ale Adumim settlement particularly near Az-Za’im checkpoint.
In separate incidents a Jewish settler was injured when young men from Huwara town in southern Nablus hurled stones at him as he was trying to remove a Palestinian flag in the town.
Palestinian youths also threw stones at Knesset member Miri Regev in Bab al-Amud area in the Old City of Jerusalem and injured her bodyguard.
Asra Media Office announced today that the Israeli occupation police arrested about 18 Palestinian citizens during the events at the Aqsa Mosque and in the Old City in the morning and later in the afternoon.
