Jenin: The Hornet’s Nest

Saturday 28-May-2022

No Israeli occupation forces (IOF) raid into Jenin and its refugee camp can go unanswered by Palestinian resistance fighters.

Over the past few months resistance operations have escalated in Jenin refugee camp and its surrounding towns including armed clashes and shooting attacks against IOF checkpoints.

The armed resistance in Jenin has escalated significantly especially following the Sword of Jerusalem battle in Gaza and the Israeli attacks in Occupied Jerusalem.

On May 13 an Israeli official died of injuries he sustained during armed clashes in Jenin refugee camp.

The Palestinian resistance factions in Jenin formed a joint resistance chamber to boost coordination on the ground.

Palestinian resistance fighters stress that armed resistance is the only option to solve the Palestinian cause.

Israeli occupation authorities have expressed concern on multiple occasions over the public appearance of resistance fighters in the Jenin camp despite the tight security grip and the effective security coordination with the Palestinian Authority.

Armed clashes frequently break out in Jenin to foil Israeli arrest campaigns against “wanted” Palestinians.

The leader of Hamas Movement in Jenin Sheikh Ahmed Al-Haj Ali stressed that the Palestinian resistance in Jenin camp has a special nature different from the rest of Palestine.

Palestinian analysts also suggest that the Israeli occupation had failed to stop Palestinian resistance in Jenin.

Israeli officials have frequently called Jenin “the hornet’s nest” due to the increasing number of resistance fighters especially among youths and their solid confrontation of IOF incursions.
