Fatah armed gangs assault Hamas MP security officer in Gaza

Wednesday 13-December-2006

GAZA (PIC)– Armed gangs affiliated with Fatah faction have assaulted the car of Hamas’ lawmaker MP Mohammed Shehab Tuesday night who was bound to Beit Lahia city in Gaza Strip and blocked his vehicle for a while.

In a statement to the PIC correspondent in the city Shehab explained that he was driving his car with two bodyguards on his way to Beit Lahia city to solve a social problem there when armed gangs from Fatah faction marching in a violent demonstration stopped him and uttered bad words against him and against Hamas.

Prudent Palestinian people he added immediately intervened and broke up the brawl before it escalated further.

“Killing of the four children in Gaza city Monday has affected all of us and Hamas was a pioneer in denouncing such crimes and the security chaos in the PA-run lands as we believe that all those untoward incidents were perpetrated by vandal groups spurred by blind hatred of certain quarters in the Palestinian arena that only served Israel” the MP elaborated.

Hamas condemned the attack on its member adding that the attacks on Hamas cadres and institutions in Gaza Strip and the West Bank were “well-planned schemes” with the aim to disturb the Palestinian social structure and security.

After assaulting Shehab the hooligans headed to the house of Emad Al-Amasi deputy-commander of the executive force of the PA interior ministry in Jabalia town and hurled stones at it.

Security guards of Amasi fired in the air to block the vandals from terrorizing the MP’s family members and drove them away as they were seen fleeing the place said Islam Shahwan the spokesman of the executive force.

“We urge those vandals to return to the people’s mainstream and to join hands with other Palestinian parties in fighting the security mess in the PA-administered lands” Shahwan urged.

Hamas’ cadres in West Bank under Fatah assaults:
More assaults by Fatah armed gangs on Hamas cadres were reported in the West Bank as three Hamas cadres posting posters and streamers in celebration of the Movement’s 19th foundation were fired at and wounded with Fatah bullets Tuesday night in Ramallah city.

The car of another Hamas member Ahmed Katawi came under fire from unknown armed group as he was trying to park it in front of his house in Tulkarm city at dawn Tuesday.

In Jenin city masked armed elements fired at Ibrahim Jamil Sa’abneh 42 one of Hamas’ cadres in the city while heading to his car after performing his Isha’a (night) prayer. He was seriously wounded due to the bullet fusillade fired at him by the attackers.

The string of violence in Gaza Strip and the West Bank occurred immediately after PA chief Mahmoud Abbas announced the abortion of unity talks with Hamas last week.

Hebrew media unveiled that Abbas was striving hard to resume talks with Israel’s premier Ehud Olmert  as he secretly met two of the latter’s emissaries in Ramallah city a couple of days ago.
