Israeli police close Aqsa Mosque for Isha prayer

The Israeli occupation police closed on Sunday evening the Aqsa Mosque’s gates in Jerusalem and prevented Palestinian citizens from entering it for the Isha prayer after opening fire at a young man and injuring him in Bab al-Amud area.

According to local sources dozens of Muslim worshipers had to perform the Isha prayer outside the Aqsa Mosque.

Eyewitnesses said that Israeli police officers assaulted citizens in Bab al-Amud detained two citizens and closed roads with barriers and red tapes.

They said that the young man who was accused of stabbing an officer was gunned down and seriously injured by an Israeli policeman while he was handcuffed in the surveillance booth in Bab al-Amud.

They added that the police officers there left the wounded young man to bleed for over an hour before allowing paramedics to evacuate him aboard an ambulance.

The young man was identified as 20-year-old Nadheer Marzouq from the West Bank town of Abwein in northern Ramallah.

According to local sources the young man is in critical condition and his life is very much in danger.
