Friday 29-April-2022

Hunger striking Palestinian prisoner Khalil Al-Awawdeh 40 continues his hunger strike for the 57th day in a row Friday while prisoner Raed Rayan 27 continues his hunger strike for the 23rd day in a row in protest at their administrative detention.

The commission of detainees and ex-detainees affairs said in a previous press statement that the Israeli prison administration moved Al-Awawdeh from the Ramleh prison clinic to a civil hospital after his health condition seriously deteriorated.

Al-Awawdeh suffers from dizziness inability to concentrate joints pain and nausea. In addition he has lost more than 16 kilograms of his weight. Despite his serious health condition the Israeli occupation authority (IOA) rejects his demand for ending his administrative detention.

He spent 12 years in Israeli jails including five in administrative detention and was rearrested by the Israeli occupation forces on December 27 2021.

Meanwhile Rayan detained in Ofer prison was rearrested by Israeli occupation police on the 3rd of November 2021 after storming his house in Beit Duqqu village north of Jerusalem. After his arrest the IOA issued an administrative detention order for six months against him. However his detention order was extended for another four months.

In a related incident prisoner Abdullah al-Ardah started a hunger strike on Wednesday in protest to extending his solitary confinement order issued against him in September 2021.
