The Hamas leader Basim Naim termed the US Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s statements which justify the US support for the Palestinian Authority as “blatant and unacceptable interference” in internal Palestinian affairs.
“The Palestinian people are the ones who choose their leaders and they will allow no interference from other parties” Naim said in a press statement.
“The US interventions are among the most compelling reasons for raising the level of division in the Palestinian political arena which prevents any reformation” Naim affirmed.
Secretary Blinken stated on Thursday that supporting the Palestinian Authority in spite of its shortcomings is necessary since Hamas is its only alternative.
“We don’t want last year’s incidents in Israel and the Palestinian territories to be repeated” Blinken said in his speech to the US Congress.
