The Commissioner-General of UNRWA Philippe Lazzarini’s bid to authorize international organizations to provide their services to Palestinian refugees on behalf of UNRWA is “unacceptable” the spokesman of the Hamas Movement Jihad Taha said on Sunday.
“UNRWA Commissioner-General’s statement contradicts the UNRWA’s primary role as the primary advocate and provider of key services for Palestinian refugees” Taha said adding that the UNRWA must assume its responsibility to serve the Palestinian refugees who were forcibly displaced until they return to their homeland.
In a statement to Quds Press Taha called on the Palestinian people to reject this decision which would lead to eliminating UNRWA as a prelude to wiping out the issue of the Palestine refugees.
Lazzarini had said in a message to Palestinian refugees that the UNRWA is considering authorizing international organizations to provide its services on its behalf.
“UNRWA has increasingly been exposed to orchestrated campaigns aiming at delegitimizing and defunding the Agency and erode the rights of Palestine refugees” Lazzarini said.
