Tekia provides free Ramadan meals to the needy in Gaza

Tekia or charity society is an initiative launched in Gaza to provide free breakfasting meals to the needy families in the Gaza Strip during the holy month of Ramadan.

The volunteer team working at Al-Mahkamah Mosque prepares every day free meals for dozens of families in Al-Shujaiya neighborhood the most densely populated area in the Gaza Strip.

The project funded by local businessmen comes amid the grim economic conditions of the people of Gaza.

The idea has been implemented every Ramadan over the past four consecutive years.

Tekia’s representative Imad Al-Khudari affirmed to the PIC reporter that the initiative provides free meals to nearly 200 needy families in Al-Shujaiya neighborhood.

Al-Khudari pointed out that the fund shortage was one of the main difficulties they faced during the first day of Ramadan causing a state of frustration to dozens of families.

Al-Khudari stressed that many needy people became relying on the Tekia on a daily basis due to their very difficult living conditions.

“We are working to improve our daily service” Al-Khudari said stressing that the volunteer team will continue to provide free meals despite the fund difficulties.

Al-Khudari concluded by expressing hope to receive material support for the project so as to serve as many numbers of needy families as possible.
