A Palestinian young man was killed and many others were injured on Wednesday morning when the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) opened fire at them during a campaign in Nablus province.

The Palestinian health ministry said that 34-year-old Mohamed Assaf died of a bullet injury in his chest when the IOF opened fire at him and others in Nablus City.

According to local sources several citizens were either wounded or kidnaped after the IOF stormed different areas of Nablus province including the towns of Lubban ash-Sharqiya Beita and Urif.

The IOF reportedly stormed the eastern area of Nablus City and the towns of Lubban ash-Sharqiya and Beita in southern Nablus and embarked on intensively firing live ammunition at local youths and showering them with tear gas and stun grenades.

The sources pointed out that the IOF entered these areas in particular to provide protection for hordes of extremist Jewish settlers who flocked to the eastern district of Nablus to perform rituals at Joseph’s Tomb.

According to the Red Crescent six young men were wounded by live bullets one of them seriously during clashes with the IOF in Beita town adding that one of the wounded was injured by a rubber bullet in his eye and another one by a stone in his head.

The IOF also clashed with local youths in the vicinity of Joseph’s Tomb in the eastern area of Nablus City injuring 10 others with live and rubber bullets. One of the wounded young men was evacuated to a hospital in critical condition.

In the same area a young man was injured after being run over by an IOF vehicle while another suffered burns after a tear gas grenade struck his head.

Many others also received medical assistance after suffering from their exposure to tear gas during the events in the streets near Joseph’s Tomb.

Meanwhile the IOF broke into and ransacked several homes in the Nablus towns of Beita Lubban ash-Sharqiya and Urif.

Local sources said that five citizens were kidnaped by the IOF during raids on homes in Beita and two brothers from the family of Daraghmeh were kidnaped in Lubban ash-Sharqiya.

Another citizen was kidnaped from his home in Urif town.

The IOF also assaulted and detained for a while a young man called Ahmed Daraghmeh during its campaign in Lubban ash-Sharqiya and wreaked havoc on his hairdressing salon.
