Hamas Movement described the Israeli settlement escalation in the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem as a “crime and blatant aggression.”
This came in a statement issued Thursday following the Israeli bulldozing operations in the east Jerusalem town of Beit Safafa as a prelude to build a new settler neighborhood composed of 2500 housing units in the illegal settlement of Givat Hamatos.
The spokesman for the group Hazem Qassem considered the new escalation as “a violation of all international laws and resolutions rejecting the Israeli illegal settlement construction on Palestinian lands.”
He also stressed the urgent need to stop security coordination between Palestinian and Israeli authorities and to reactivate Palestinian popular resistance to confront the Israeli settlement construction.
He also called on human rights organizations to assume their responsibilities vis-à-vis the Israeli settlement violations.
On the other hand another Hamas spokesman Muhammad Hamadeh stressed the need to mobilize and unify Palestinian efforts in defense of Al-Aqsa Mosque.
He also stressed the need to escalate the resistance against the occupation and to confront the Israeli aggression in Jerusalem and al-Aqsa Mosque in particular.
“Our Palestinian people will never give up and will remain a solid obstacle in the face of Israeli settlement plans” he added.
He also pointed out that the Jewish settlers’ daily break-ins into al-Aqsa fell in line with the Israeli Judaization plans.
The Aqsa Mosque is exposed to daily desecration by Jewish settlers and police forces in the morning and the afternoon except on Fridays and Saturdays.
