IOA razes Palestinian house in Shuafat refugee camp

Thursday 10-March-2022

The Israeli occupation authority (IOA) demolished on Wednesday a Palestinian home in Shuafat refugee camp northeast of Jerusalem.

Local sources said that a bulldozer escorted by police forces stormed Ras Khamis neighborhood in Shuafat and demolished a house under construction belonging to Suhaib as-Sa’iri at the pretext of unlicensed construction.

In a related context the local residents of Jabel Mukaber staged on Thursday morning a general strike in protest at the Israeli demolition policy in the holy city.

According to local sources all the commercial stores and facilities closed their doors and banners against Israeli demolition and displacement campaigns were put up on some walls.

In recent weeks dozens of local residents participated in sit-ins staged outside the Israeli municipality headquarters in Occupied Jerusalem to demand an end to the systematic demolition of Palestinian homes and structures in the holy city which increased lately.

The Jerusalemites have no choice but to build without licenses because there are no structural maps that respond to the natural increase in their numbers.

The IOA also imposes building restrictions on the Palestinian natives in Jerusalem and makes it hard for them to obtain construction licenses.

Israel’s systematic demolition of Jerusalemite homes is believed to be aimed at psychologically destroying the Palestinian families in an attempt to force them to move from the holy city.
