Settlers assault Palestinian female shepherds in eastern Bethlehem

Thursday 27-January-2022

A horde of extremist Jewish settlers on Wednesday assaulted two Palestinian female shepherds and detained them for a while near Kisan village in the east of Bethlehem south of the occupied West Bank.

Local activist Ahmed Ghazal said that settlers from the illegal settlement of Ma’ale Amos threw stones at two female shepherds in their 30s from the family of Abiyat and set dogs on them and their cattle before detaining them for over an hour.

Ghazal however did not state if the shepherds were hurt or not in the settler attack.

He pointed out that the settlers living in illegal settlements in the area intensified their attacks recently against local residents and shepherds in Kisan village in an attempt to force them to leave their homes.

Meanwhile the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) on the same day forced several Palestinian shepherds to leave grazing land and chased them in the east of Khirbet Makhoul hamlet in the northern Jordan Valley.

In a separate incident a group of settlers fenced swaths of Palestinian-owned land on Wednesday afternoon and placed prefabricated homes in two different areas in the south of al-Khalil City.

According to local sources dozens of settlers deployed a fence around swaths of land in Masafer Yatta in southern al-Khalil and placed mobile homes in nearby areas.

Settlers use such outposts as hotbeds to launch attacks on local residents and their property to seize Palestinian lands and expand their presence in the West Bank.
