The Israeli occupation authority (IOA) on Sunday displaced a Palestinian family after forcing it to demolish its own house in Sur Baher village southeast of Jerusalem at the pretext of unlicensed construction.

According to local sources the Abul-Kaf family started last night to demolish their 120-square-meters house after pressure from the Israeli municipality which threatened to make it pay fines and demolition expenses amounting to about 150000 shekels.

Ibrahim Abul-Kaf the homeowner told WAFA news agency that he was handed a demolition order a few days ago although he had to pay fines for several months amounting to about 65000 Shekels and sought repeatedly to license the house to no avail.

Abul-Kaf had been living in that house with his family of seven for nearly 11 years.

The Israeli occupation authority (IOA) on Friday displaced the Jerusalemite family of Dabash after forcing them to demolish their home in Sur Baher town southeast of the holy city.

According to local sources the family demolished the home after it received a notice from the Israeli municipality in Occupied Jerusalem ordering it to carry out the measure to avoid paying 100000 shekels in demolition expenses and fines.

11 individuals including children lived in that house which was built about six years ago and composed of six rooms.

The Jerusalemites have no choice but to build without licenses because there are no structural maps that respond to the natural increase in their numbers and for that reason they are denied house permits.

The IOA also imposes building restrictions on the Palestinian natives in Jerusalem and makes it hard for them to obtain construction licenses.

Israel’s systematic demolition of Palestinian homes in Occupied Jerusalem is believed to be aimed at psychologically destroying the Jerusalemite families in an attempt to force them to move from the holy city.
