Ismail Haneyya head of Hamas’s political bureau has affirmed the emergence of his Movement in the Palestinian arena was a major shift in the Palestinian people’s struggle history.
In a speech on the 34th founding anniversary of Hamas Haneyya said that thanks to his Movement the Palestinian cause restored its prestige following the first Intifada (uprising) and became high once again on the agendas of the Arab and Muslim nations and the international community.
“34 years later we are still adherent to the Palestinian people’s constants and rights” the Hamas leader said stressing that his Movement and its people would never give up an iota of the Palestinian soil.
“The [Palestinian] refugees are not looking for new homelands because they will return to their land and country today or tomorrow. This is our land and the future of our generations” he said.
He affirmed that all the attempts to force his Movement to waive its people’s national constants and inalienable rights through war siege and conspiracies failed.
He also described Jerusalem as “the focal point of the conflict with the occupation state” and “a mecca for all the believers from across the world.”
He expressed his belief that the ongoing Israeli violations across the holy city “cannot change the historical and geographical facts on the ground or change falsehood into truth” adding that the Palestinian people “who have offered tens of thousands of martyrs are still ready to protect their Jerusalem Aqsa Mosque and Islamic and Christian holy sites.”
“The Sword of Jerusalem Battle was aimed at protecting Jerusalem and the Aqsa Mosque but this sword that we have wielded will not be sheathed without the liberation of our Jerusalem and Aqsa. This is our vow we have made to our people in Jerusalem and the final word to confront Israeli schemes at all costs” he said.
