Israeli police officers shot and killed a Palestinian young man in Bab al-Amud in Occupied Jerusalem on Saturday evening after claiming that he stabbed a settler.
Local sources said that the youth stabbed an Israeli settler before being gunned down adding that he posed no danger to the police officers who kept shooting at him despite laying helpless on the ground.
The police officers prevented ambulance crews from assisting the youth who remained bleeding until he died the sources said adding that the officers then fired sound bombs at Palestinian young men who gathered in the area.
Hamas spokesman in Jerusalem Mohammed Hamada said in a press release on Saturday night that what happened to the young Jerusalemite reflected the Israeli occupation’s “savagery”.
He said such a “criminal behavior” should be condemned describing it as the real terrorism. He added that the Israeli occupation does not care for any norms or laws.
Jerusalemite sources said that the Israeli police closed all gates of the Old City and the Aqsa Mosque after the stabbing incident and arrested a young man and beat up another one.
Amal society for health services said that it treated 40 Palestinian casualties in the area due to the Israeli police assault on all those gathering in the vicinity of the incident some of whom were injured with rubber-coated bullets.
