The Israeli high court of justice on Sunday rejected the appeal submitted by Palestinian citizens against the appropriation of a swath of land belonging to them in the east Jerusalem neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah.
The court also ordered them to pay a financial penalty of 18000 shekels according to a local committee in Sheikh Jarrah.
The court sanctioned the Israeli decision to seize the Palestinian land and turn it into a park for Jewish settlers at the pretext of its location near an alleged shrine.
The owners used their piece of land for commercial purposes after the Israeli municipality refused to give them permits to build an apartment building for Jerusalemite citizens.
