The Israeli occupation police on Wednesday evening detained a Palestinian young man and assaulted others as they were protesting extremist Knesset member Itamar Ben-Gvir’s visit to the Bab al-Amud plaza in the Old City of Jerusalem.
Ben Gvir also visited the Ribat al-Kurd wall near the Aqsa Mosque’s Bab al-Hadeed Gate. He was accompanied by other settlers including Knesset member Bezalel Smotrich leader of the Religious Zionist Party.
According to local sources police forces assaulted a number of young citizens after they shouted angrily in Ben-Gvir’s face as he was walking under police protection in the area.
Police forces also assaulted and detained a teenager in the area.
Itamar leader of the far-right Jewish Power party is notorious for making provocative remarks and visits to places with the aim of hurting the Palestinians and inciting against them.
