Jewish settlers attack Palestinian shepherds in al-Khalil

Friday 8-October-2021

A group of Jewish settlers attacked on Friday morning Palestinian shepherds and uprooted dozens of olive trees in two separate attacks in al-Khalil.

Local sources affirmed that at least one of the shepherds suffered different injuries and bruises when the settlers violently attacked Palestinian shepherds in Zanouta area in the village of al-Dhahiriya to the south of the city.

Head of the village council Fayez al-Tal reported that the injured shepherd was immediately taken to hospital while a second one was detained by the soldiers.

In a separate incident other groups of Jewish settlers from the nearby illegal settlement of Adora uprooted at least 100 olive trees belonging to Palestinians in Khirbet al-Taybeh in the town of Tarqumiya to the northwest of al-Khalil.

Local farmer Suleiman al-Ja’afrweh pointed out that local residents are routinely subjected to settlers’ attacks and death threats with the aim of pushing them to leave their homes as part of the Israeli forced-displacement policy.

Settler violence against Palestinians and their property is routine in the West Bank and is rarely prosecuted by Israeli authorities.
