Khudari proposes 23/2 as international day of solidarity against Gaza siege

Monday 11-February-2008

GAZA (PIC)– MP Jamal Al-Khudari the chairman of the popular committee against the siege on Monday proposed allocating 23rd February as the international day for solidarity with the besieged Gaza Strip.

He told a press conference in Gaza city that the world should adopt practical steps in solidarity with the beleaguered Strip and to pressure the Zionist occupation into ending the siege.

The lawmaker addressed a special appeal to Egypt to open the Rafah crossing to alleviate the suffering of the Gaza inhabitants.

Khudari warned that the Israeli higher court’s approval of reducing fuel supplies to Gaza “heralds a real disaster on all aspects of life in the Gaza Strip”.

He charged that the court ruling was in contravention of all international laws and a clear violation of the Palestinian human rights especially when it is considered a kind of mass punishment.

The MP also underlined that any Israeli full-scale invasion of the Strip would lead to a halt in fuel supplies and consequently would paralyze all aspects of life in the Strip.
