The Palestinian health ministry on Wednesday reported 19 new deaths associated with COVID-19 (coronavirus) 2366 new positive tests and 2162 recoveries in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip during the last 24 hours.
According to the ministry’s daily report nine of the victims who died of the virus are from the West Bank and 10 from Gaza.
77 critically ill COVID-19 patients are also receiving intensive care in hospitals and 17 of them have been placed on ventilators.
Furthermore 185 other patients are receiving medical care in hospitals and special COVID-19 treatment centers.
90.8 percent of the total cases have recovered from the disease while the rate of active cases has reached 8.2 percent and the rate of deaths is 1.0 percent of the total cases according to data updated today by the ministry.
In a related context Palestinian health minister Mai Kaila expressed deep concern over the growing COVID-19 cases in the West Bank especially since the dangerous delta variant of the virus was found in 90 percent of the positive specimens taken randomly from infected patients.
Kaila warned that young people are more likely to become infected with Delta urging the citizens to get vaccinated continue to wear masks and observe social distancing.
