Hamas slams Bahrain’s appointment of ambassador to Israel

Thursday 2-September-2021

The Hamas Movement has described Bahrain’s appointment of an ambassador to the Israeli occupation state as “indulgence in the national sin which its leadership had committed when it signed the normalization deal.”

In press remarks on Wednesday Hamas spokesman Hazem Qasem said that such Bahrain step reflects clear support for the occupation state and complicity in its ongoing aggression and crimes against the Palestinian people and its violations against the Islamic holy sites.

Spokesman Qasem added that the step “would serve the Zionist version of events.”

“The enemy should know that the normalization of its relations with the [Arab] regimes is just an illusion and wishes to consolidate its existence that will inevitably end” the spokesman added.

“The Palestinian people — armed with their will their resistance and the positions that support their legitimate rights — will continue their struggle until they achieve their goals. They will neither forget nor forgive those who have stood by the occupation” he underscored.

Bahraini ambassador Khaled al-Jalahma landed in Ben-Gurion Airport on Tuesday to take up his new post in what his foreign ministry described as “another milestone in deepening the ties between the two countries.”

Israel and Bahrain established diplomatic relations last year as part of the Abraham Accords brokered by the former US administration. Bahrain’s decision to normalize relations followed a similar step by the United Arab Emirates during the same year.

The UAE and Bahrain were the first Gulf states to have relations with Israel.

In mid-January the Israeli occupation government appointed Itay Tagner as charge d’affaires of the Israeli embassy in Manama.
