IOA orders Jerusalemite to raze his own house in Silwan

Tuesday 3-August-2021

The Israeli occupation authority (IOA) on Monday handed a Jerusalemite citizen a notice ordering him to demolish his own three-story house in al-Bustan neighborhood in Silwan district south of the Aqsa Mosque.

The homeowner Yaqoub Al-Rajabi was given until August 15 to raze the house to avoid paying penalties and demolition expenses to the Israeli municipality.

The IOA claimed the house which consists of two apartments and three stores was built with no license.

The majority of Jerusalemite citizens had to comply with such Israeli demolition orders to avoid paying exorbitant fines to the IOA.

The Jerusalemites have no choice but to build without licenses because there are no structural maps that respond to the natural increase in their numbers and for that reason they are denied house permits.

The IOA also imposes building restrictions on the Palestinian natives in Jerusalem and makes it hard for them to obtain construction licenses.

Israel’s systematic demolition of Palestinian homes in Occupied Jerusalem is believed to be aimed at psychologically destroying the Jerusalemite families in an attempt to force them to move out of the holy city.
