A Palestinian citizen was killed and ten others wounded in an explosion that rocked the Zawiya market in eastern Gaza City on Thursday morning.
Photos taken of the scene of the incident displayed vast destruction as a result of the explosion in buildings and shops.
Iyad al-Buzum the interior ministry spokesman in Gaza said that the police forces civil defense brigades and ambulance crews were dealing with the incident evacuating the wounded and investigating the cause of the blast.
The civil defense said that the blast occurred in the basement of a three-story building in the market where gas cylinders are filled.
