The Jordanian ministry of foreign affairs has strongly denounced the Israeli occupation police for raiding the Aqsa Mosque and assaulting Muslim worshipers on Friday calling on Israel to stop its violations and provocations in the holy city.
“What the occupation police did today following the Friday prayer was a flagrant violation of the sanctity of the Aqsa Mosque and a disregard for the safety of the worshipers” spokesman for the ministry Dhaifallah al-Fayez stated on Friday.
Al-Fayez called on Israel to respect the historical and legal status quo of the holy city the Islamic sanctity of the Aqsa Mosque the safety and freedom of worship of the Muslim worshipers and the authority of Jordan’s Jerusalem Awqaf and Aqsa Mosque Affairs Administration which “has exclusive jurisdiction over the management of the Aqsa Mosque.”
The spokesman also called on Israel to abide by its obligations under international law as the occupying power in east Jerusalem.
