Five Palestinians killed yesterday in separate air raids on Gaza

Monday 17-May-2021

Five Palestinian young men were killed in Israeli aerial attacks on areas in the north and south of the embattled Gaza Strip on Sunday evening.

According to local sources a warplane fired two missiles at a group of citizens in al-Zeitoun street in Beit Hanoun City in northern Gaza killing three young men immediately.

Two young citizens were also killed in another air raid on Rafah in southern Gaza.

Early on Monday the Israeli occupation army launched another series of air raids on the Gaza Strip hours after Israel’s caretaker premier Benjamin Netanyahu threatened to commit more massacres in Gaza.

Explosions rocked Gaza City from north to south in a bombardment that was heavier wider and lasted longer than the airstrikes that killed at least 42 civilians and wounded dozens more on Sunday.

Reporters for the Palestinian Information Center (PIC) said that over 120 air raids were launched after midnight on Monday and continued into the dawn and morning hours targeting different areas of the coastal enclave mainly Gaza City.

The air raids shook homes and caused widespread panic among families PIC reporters added.

Several civilian homes and facilities were bombed and destroyed in overnight and morning attacks but there was no immediate information about casualties.

One of the morning attacks reportedly with artillery projectiles hit a sponge factory in northern Gaza causing a raging blaze in the facility.

Firefighters rushed to the site to quell the blaze which sent plumes of smoke into the air.

Meanwhile a fire spread through swaths of cultivated land in Zalata area in the east of Rafah (south of Gaza) after the Israeli artillery fired several projectiles towards nearby civilian homes.

Firemen were dispatched to the area and started to control the fire but the continued artillery bombing of the area forced them to leave.
