Settlers set up new outpost near settlement in Jordan Valley

Monday 5-April-2021

Jewish settlers on Sunday started setting up a new outpost in the west of the illegal settlement of Hamra in the Jordan Valley north of the occupied West Bank.

Local official Aref Daraghmeh said that Hamra settlement had been established by the Israeli occupation state in the 1970s in the central Jordan Valley adding that more than 50 dunums of land was appropriated for the settlement at the time.

“The settlers today started creating a new outpost within one kilometer from the west of Hamra settlement with the aim of annexing the lands located between the settlement and the new outpost” Daraghmeh explained pointing out that such step is supported by the Israeli government.

The annexed tracts of land originally belong to Beit Dajan village in the Jordan Valley but the Israeli occupation army has been preventing the local owners from using them for long years according to Daraghmeh.
