Israel imposes hermetic closure on West Bank Gaza

Monday 22-March-2021

The Israeli occupation authorities (IOA) announced the imposition of a comprehensive lockdown on the West Bank and the Gaza Strip under the pretext of securing the Israeli Knesset elections.

Hebrew media said on Monday that Israel will impose a hermetic closure on the West Bank and the Gaza Strip on the day of the elections on 23/03/2021.

According to Israeli media sources another closure will be imposed on the West Bank and the crossings with the Gaza Strip will be closed during the Jewish Passover holiday from Friday 26/03/2021 until midday on Saturday 03/04/2021.

In a separate development the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) closed the main road linking Beit Iksa village and Jerusalem.

Eyewitnesses reported that the IOF closed the road with barbed wire and prevented citizens from moving on foot as it has been closed to vehicles since 2006.

Beit Iksa is surrounded by the Apartheid Wall and is inhabited by nearly two thousand people. The IOA has already seized vast areas of its lands and is still coveting more.

Most of Beit Iksa’s residents live in an area estimated at 700 dunums only out of the total area of the town which is approximately 7398 dunums.

The so-called Israeli Civil Administration controls most of Beit Iksa’s area militarily and administratively.

Israel imposes hermetic closure on West Bank Gaza

Friday 18-September-2020

The Israeli occupation army announced on Friday the imposition of hermetic closure on the occupied West Bank and the closure of all border crossings with the Gaza Strip to celebrate the so-called Hebrew New Year.

According to the Hebrew Makan radio the occupation army stated that this procedure will be applied until midnight Sunday.

Under this procedure Palestinians will not be permitted to enter the territories occupied in 1948 except for humanitarian medical and emergency cases and only after the approval of the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Palestinian Territories.

The Jewish holidays usually witness intensifications of Israeli restrictions and an occasion to harass the Palestinians by limiting their movement between different Palestinian cities and villages due to the barriers that the occupation forces erect at the entrances to Palestinian cities and villages in the West Bank.

Tens of thousands of Palestinian workers will not be able to reach their workplaces as a result of the closure.
