Jerusalemites perform Friday prayer in Al-Bustan neighborhood

Friday 19-March-2021

Jerusalemites of Silwan and neighborhoods of Occupied Jerusalem performed Friday prayer in the solidarity tent in the Al-Bustan neighborhood in Silwan south of the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The Jerusalemites responded to the call of Silwan’s residents to perform the Friday prayer in the solidarity tent to protest the occupation’s plans to demolish the neighborhood and displace its residents.

Friday prayer was held in the tent followed by a protest against the demolition of the neighborhood’s homes and Jerusalemites raised the slogan “We will not leave.”

Sheikh Najeh Bikirat the Friday preacher confirmed that the neighborhood and Silwan town are Arab and Islamic areas and they have been so throughout history.

He pointed out that Silwan and Sheikh Jarrah are appealing to the Arab and Islamic nations to save them from the occupation and its Judaization plans.

The Israeli occupation government is planning a mass demolition scheme against the Al-Bustan neighborhood adjacent to Al-Aqsa Mosque that would raze dozens of Jerusalemite homes.

The occupation authorities have been seeking for years to demolish hundreds of housing units in the Al-Bustan neighborhood and turn it into a Jewish-only park. However this plan was postponed several times due to popular and legal pressures.
