The Israeli occupation authority (IOA) on Tuesday seized and bulldozed vast tracts of Palestinian-owned land in Abu Dis town southeast of Jerusalem.
Bassam Bahar head of the Abu Dis land defense committee said that the Israeli bulldozing activity happened in the eastern area of the town near the illegal settlement of Keidar adding that the bulldozed land which belong to local residents are estimated at 1500 dunums.
Bahar also said that the IOA prevents the landowners from reclaiming this land which is located within the Israeli settlement plan known as E1 in east Jerusalem.
He pointed out that Israeli premier Benjamin Netanyahu gave the green light for the most dangerous settlement project in the area which already drew widespread international condemnation.
In a separate incident violent clashes broke out later in the evening in Abu Dis between local youths and Israeli soldiers. Local sources said that the events started after soldiers stormed the town.
