IOF seizes two tents in Yatta issues stop work orders in Salfit

Wednesday 10-February-2021

Israeli occupation forces (IOF) seized on Wednesday two tents near Susiya military camp and settlement east of Yatta south of al-Khalil.

Fuad Al-Amour the coordinator of the Protection and Steadfastness Committee in the south of al-Khalil stated that one tent is used as a resting place for hikers near the occupation camp in Susiya village. The other tent is used by a health unit in the Tumen community east of Yatta.

IOF regularly embarks on the demolition of tents and dwellings of farmers and sheepherders in villages in Masafir Yatta to force the residents to leave and control their lands.

Meanwhile IOF delivered stop work orders to several buildings under construction in Yasuf village east of Salfit.

Abdullah Obayya the head of Yasuf Council said that IOF soldiers stormed the village and delivered notices to residents to cease the construction of 11 houses. Also it notified them to stop construction work in the village’s stadium and to stop rehabilitating one of its streets.

The lands of Yasuf village are subjected to repeated attacks by the IOF and its settlers. The most recent attack was by settlers last week who cut and destroyed about 65 olive seedlings out of 150 planted last year in an area called Okdat Al-Zir.

Israeli occupation authorities confiscated 406 dunums of the village’s lands in 2019 for constructing a road. This will lead to the uprooting of more than 3000 fruitful trees in these lands.

This road is considered one of the most dangerous settlement projects because it will enhance settlement activity. Furthermore it will transform settlements south of Nablus from isolated settlements into cities.
