Groups of the Israeli occupation police broke into the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque and deployed at its gates on Saturday morning.
Jerusalemite sources reported that a large number of Israeli policemen and officers stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque for the second day in a row roamed in its courtyards and intensified their presence at the gates and roads leading to the Mosque.
The preacher of the holy Al-Aqsa Mosque Sheikh Ekrema Sabri confirmed in previous press statements that the occupation is exploiting the pandemic to implement political plans and restrict the Jerusalemites’ presence in the Old City especially on Fridays.
Sabri pointed out that the settlers’ and the occupation police incursions into the Al-Aqsa Mosque did not stop nor were they restricted by health-related measures.
“These restrictions are imposed only on Jerusalemites to reduce the number of worshipers in Al-Aqsa Mosque” he underlined.
He called on the Jerusalemites to intensify their presence at Al-Aqsa Mosque and comply with the instructions such as wearing the masks bringing prayer rugs and maintain a safe distance from other worshipers.
On Friday the occupation police prevented non-residents of the Old City of Jerusalem from reaching the Al-Aqsa Mosque to perform Friday prayer under the pretext of the lockdown imposed by the Israeli government four weeks ago.
Israeli police closed the entrances to the Old City and Al-Aqsa Mosque and tightened their procedures at all gates of the holy site.
